January 3, 1956- Knicks beat Celtics to end Celts 7 game winning streak

In a basketball doubleheader in Philadelphia's Convention Hall the Knicks beat the Celtics 107-97 in the first game to end the Celtics 7 game winning streak. New York trailed by 10 in the 2nd quarter 44-34, before making a rally to go up by 1 at halftime. From there the Knicks had a strong 3rd quarter where they led by as many as 13 and the Celtics never recovered. This game featured the return of Dr. Ernie Vandeweghe who was in the process of completing his residency at New York Babies' Hospital. This was Vandeweghe's 1st game in 2 years.

In the 2nd game of the doubleheader the Philadelphia Warriors blew out the Fort Wayne Pistons 102-82. George Yardley led all scorers with 22 points.
