January 25, 1956 Pistons beat Celtics

The Fort Wayne Pistons rallied from 13 points down to defeat the Boston Celtics 101-100 in the 1st game of a NBA doubleheader in Philadelphia. Corky Devlin hit 2 free throws with 15 seconds left to win the game for the Western division leading Pistons. The Celtics record after the game fell to 24-18.

In the 2nd game of the doubleheader the Warriors beat the Nationals 112-100. The Warriors dominated the game most of the way and entered the 4th period leading by 80-64 before Philly coach George Senesky took out most of his starters to rest them. Paul Arizin led all scorers with 26 points and at 1 point hit 6 consecutive jumpers. The Warriors widened their division lead over the Celtics to 4 1/2.
