January 15, 1956 Knicks beat Celtics in overtime 109-104

The New York Knicks defeated the Boston Celtics 109-104 in overtime at the Boston Garden. The Knicks scored 27 points in a 6 and a half minute surge to come back from a 63-47 deficit in the 3rd period to eventually take a 95-87 lead. The Boston Celtics battled back and Bob Cousy hit two free throws to force the game into overtime. In the overtime session Arnie Risen of the Celtics missed three free throws while the Knicks were a perfect 8 for 8 from the line as they went on to beat the Celtics. The Celtics loss dropped the team's record for the season to 20-15.
