February 5, 1956- Celtics beat Knicks 114-104

The Boston Celtics had a strong performance at home as they beat the New York Knicks 114-104 in front of 10,084 fans. The Celtics played the game using only 8 men, including Bob Cousy who suffered a ankle sprain in the previous game against the Royals. Cousy played only 24 minutes, 17 in the 1st half and 7 in the 3rd quarter. After a brief New York lead it was all Celtics as they cruised to the win. Tensions were high in this game as Red Auerbach, Bill Sharman, and Dick McGuire all picked up technical fouls and there were 58 fouls called. The Celtics improved their season record to 28-22 and remained 2 1/2 games back of the division leading Warriors.
